For the youth camp I had to give a nightly devotion for the girls. The whole point of camp was Getting Across. We talked about salvation and what it means and baptism and getting saved, etc. I prayed to God to tell me what He wanted me to talk to these girls about. I got out my Daily Bread devotional and turned to that particularly day I was praying and the title was "My Heart Condemns Me". It talked about feeling guilty about your past and Saul's conversion to Paul. How awesome is it that God used someone like Saul?! He was a murderer, a blasphemer by his own account and he became a disciple to Jesus!! He wrote books in the Bible. He called himself the chief of sinners but he used that to minister to others. I told the girls a little about my past before becoming a christian and I have many things I'm not proud of but I can use those weaknesses to minister to others. If God can use a girl like me He can use anyone!! Once we repent of our sins they are FORGOTTEN in God's eyes. How awesome is that? But I like many still pull those memories up and think how can I be worthy? When we bring up those old sins that are forgotten to Him He says "I don't know what you are talking about" BUT satan says "I do" and he adds fuel to the fire. Don't let him. Confession to God always brings His cleansing. God can use anyone and don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. When you feel like you can't handle things just turn the Book of Truth, turn to God in prayer or to a friend to pray with you..........and when you stumble just say I'm sorry for the way I've been living my life. I know I've got to change so from now on tonight...Jesus take the wheel, take it from my hands because I can't do this on my own. I'm letting go so give me one more chance to save me from this road I'm on (from the Carrie Underwood song).
If our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things......1 John 3:20
I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me faithful, appointment to his service. Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners-of whom I am the worst. But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would belief on Him and receive eternal life. Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen....1 Timothy 12-17
